All About Prosper ISD’s New Walnut Grove High School
In Lakewood at Brookhollow and Mustang Lakes, we’re proud to be served by the exemplary Prosper ISD and thrilled for our students to attend the district’s newest school, Walnut Grove High School! The new campus opened on Aug. 9 for the 2023-2024 school year with much fanfare, including viral videos and news articles featuring the school’s jaw-dropping facilities.

Walnut Grove High School
Home of the Wildcats, Walnut Grove High features a 530,000-sq.-ft., 2-story academic building and a 75,000-sq.-ft. multipurpose building with academic areas, fine arts, athletics, and CTE (Career & Technical Education) spaces.
The school is reminiscent of a college campus, complete with a 1,000-seat auditorium, a 2,200-seat area for athletic activities and events, a massive basketball court, a top-notch indoor football facility, a full-featured weight room, and outdoor facilities for sports. The cafeteria mirrors a mall food court and includes Sonic, Jimmy Johns, and The Iron Skillet as lunch options.
According to Prosper ISD, the design for Walnut Grove High School was inspired by a Classical Revival style of architecture, including front porch entries topped with pediments leading into a modern interior with abundant natural light.
Academics and Extracurriculars
Walnut Grove High School features 62 core classrooms supported by computer labs, 14 science labs, prep rooms, and a remarkable library. The campus also offers 30 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 109 CTE courses. CTE areas include business labs, computer labs, forensic science, journalism, fashion, culinary arts, broadcast, digital media, medical tech, eSports, architecture, interior design, construction science, animal science, horticulture, engineering, and robotics.
Students can participate in a wide array of extracurricular activities including band, orchestra, choir, theater, dance, art, cheer, drill team/dance and sports including aquatics, baseball, boys and girls basketball, cross country, football, girls, soccer, golf, powerlifting, softball, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and wrestling.

Prosper ISD boasts an impressive 15 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio and has an overall ranking of excellence from the Texas Education Agency. The district received an “A” rating in student achievement, academic growth, and closing the gaps between different populations of students.
Prosper ISD has been named one of the top 10 Best School Districts in Texas and the 5th best school district for athletes in Texas! The district took the #1 ranking for Best School Districts for Athletes in Collin County and the #2 ranking for Best School Districts in which to teach in Collin County.
